Breast Cancer has affected my personal life tremendously and that/s why it's so special for Awaken Fitness. Breast Cancer took my wife (Amanda) and my other best friend and best dog (Layla).​ Amanda truly embodied how STRONG, CONFIDENT, SMART, DETERMINED, INDEPENDENT, COURAGEOUS, and overall how BADASS WOMEN ARE! ​She was a master sergeant in the Army and was in the military for 17 years. Amanda was a Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Specialist. If you know anything about the military that's a pretty BIG DEAL. ​She was well on her way to getting promoted again and retire in 3 years.

Being a woman in the military is already hard enough and Amanda, well she opened doors for future women to come. ​She was brilliant. Always asked questions, always did her own research (even doctors looked up clinical trials she was talking about.) Amanda was down to earth and so humble with a smile or laugh on her face. Fast forward a year and a half later and with the same symptoms and the same diagnosis, Layla, my dog passes away. Layla was so happy, humble, energetic, and loving her 10 years here with me. Always there to listen to and my shoulder to cry on when Amanda passed away. Both his best friends are now watching over him. 

​Amanda and Layla still drive and inspire him daily to better himself. On what he can do to change not only himself, but the community and the world in a positive way. ​Amanda inspired how Awaken Fitness was founded. ​In honor of her, and for all women, family and friends,

​No matter what goes on in my life or what obstacles the universe has for me, Amanda's spirit reminds me to put two feet on the ground, dust off those shoulders, put a smile on myface and move forward.
